GRA Set to Honour Nation’s Most Committed Taxpayers at 8th Annual Awards Ceremony

The is set to host its prestigious 8th Annual Taxpayer Awards Ceremony tomorrow, reaffirming the institution’s unwavering commitment to strengthening domestic revenue mobilisation and recognising citizens and businesses that continue to play a vital role in national development through responsible tax compliance.

The highly anticipated event will celebrate outstanding taxpayers from the corporate sector, small and medium-sized enterprises, and individual categories whose consistent contributions have significantly boosted government revenue generation and supported the country’s socio-economic transformation agenda.

According to the Authority, the awards initiative is aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and a strong culture of voluntary tax compliance across the country, while encouraging more Gambians and businesses to honour their civic responsibilities.

Speaking ahead of the ceremony, the Commissioner General described the awards as a powerful symbol of patriotism and national responsibility, emphasising that taxpayers remain central partners in the country’s development drive.

He noted that the Authority remains resolute in expanding tax compliance measures while also recognising and rewarding individuals and institutions that continue to set exemplary standards in tax payment and accurate filing.

“The message is clear: tax compliance is the backbone of national development. Those who consistently fulfil their obligations deserve public recognition for supporting the country’s growth and stability,” the Commissioner General stated.

Mr. Darboe further revealed that recipients for this year’s awards were selected through a rigorous assessment process based on payment consistency, filing accuracy, and overall contribution toward achieving domestic revenue targets.

The annual ceremony forms part of the GRA’s broader strategic agenda to widen the national tax base, strengthen financial independence, and reduce dependence on external financing, as the institution continues to position itself at the forefront of The Gambia’s economic transformation efforts.
