By JarranewsTV Staff Reporter The Gambia Police Force has confirmed the death of Police Constable 9088 Lamin Badjie of the Kerewan Police Intervention Unit (PIU) following a tragic road traffic accident along the Jammeh Kunda–Salikenni highway on Wednesday, May 28, 2026. According to preliminary reports, the police vehicle bearing registration number GPF 17 PIU was involved in an accident while officers were carrying out escort duties. The incident reportedly occurred after a cow unexpectedly crossed the highway, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. PC Lamin Badjie sustained severe injuries during the crash and was immediately rushed to the Kerewan Health Centre for urgent medical attention. Sadly, he later succumbed to his injuries. Other officers who were involved in the accident sustained minor injuries and are currently receiving treatment. The Office of the Inspector General of Police and the Police High Command have expressed profound sorrow over the passing of the officer and extended heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and loved ones during this difficult time.
