The Gambia Police Force (GPF) has issued a report regarding three distinct alleged murder investigations, emphasizing its dedication to transparency, accountability, and the pursuit of justice.

Arrests Made in Relation to the Death of Musa Sabally

Authorities have indicated that significant advancements have been made in the investigation concerning the death of 23-year-old Musa Sabally, hailing from Brikama Bojang Kunda. The GPF has stated that Sabally reportedly succumbed to injuries inflicted by a group of individuals and was declared dead upon his arrival at the Brikama Health Centre. Thus far, four suspects have been apprehended and remain in police custody, where they are aiding ongoing investigations. Furthermore, the authorities confirmed that a post-mortem examination has been conducted on the deceased, and efforts persist to identify and detain other individuals believed to have been involved in the incident.

Ongoing Investigation into the Death of Truck Driver Kebba Sarr

Simultaneously, investigations are actively ongoing regarding the death of truck driver Kebba Sarr, whose body was discovered in an apartment situated in Nema, Wellingara, on June 15, 2026. A 19-year-old female suspect, previously arrested in connection to the case, continues to assist investigators while in custody. The GPF has reported that a post-mortem examination has been finalized, and inquiries are continuing to ascertain the complete circumstances surrounding Sarr’s demise.

Advancement of Yunusa Mbaye’s Murder Case to High Court

In another development, the case related to the death of Yunusa Mbaye has progressed to the prosecution phase. The police have disclosed that a post-mortem examination has been conducted, and significant evidentiary materials have been collected during the investigation. Following the conclusion of investigative procedures, a case file has been submitted to the Ministry of Justice for legal scrutiny and prosecution. Consequently, formal prosecution proceedings against the accused commenced before the High Court on June 24, 2026.

The Gambia Police Force reiterated its firm disapproval of all forms of violence and reaffirmed its commitment to conducting thorough, impartial, and professional investigations to ensure that justice is served in accordance with legal standards. The Force has urged the public to remain composed and to permit the judicial process to unfold without interference. They cautioned against actions, remarks, or activities that could compromise ongoing investigations, disrupt due process, or attempt to sway matters currently under judicial consideration. 

“The administration of justice is optimally served through lawful procedures, respect for judicial independence, and steadfast confidence in the rule of law,” stated the Police Force.
