The alarming message attributed to members of GALA should concern every peace-loving Gambian, regardless of political affiliation, tribe, religion, or ideology. No individual or group has the right to threaten the peace and stability of this country under the disguise of “activism” or public advocacy.Democracy does not give anyone the licence to intimidate the State, threaten institutions, or create fear among citizens. The statement suggesting that “things will never be the same again in this country” if court proceedings continue is deeply troubling and unacceptable in any democratic society. Such rhetoric carries dangerous implications and risks encouraging unrest, confrontation, and political instability at a time when national unity and calm are most needed. From all indications, these GALA elements appear to be advancing a dangerous agenda of agitation, organized civil disobedience, confrontation with State institutions, and the incitement of pre-election unrest capable of undermining national stability. Their repeated provocative rhetoric raises legitimate concerns that certain actors may be attempting to create tension, chaos, and institutional distrust with the ultimate objective of disrupting or discrediting the electoral process. Gambians must remain vigilant against any attempt to drag the country into unnecessary instability for political motives.President and his government must remain firm, vigilant, and uncompromising in defending law and order. No pressure group should place itself above the Constitution, the judiciary, or the authority of the State. If any citizen has grievances, the lawful path is through dialogue, legal representation, and peaceful civic engagement — not threats, agitation, or attempts to incite chaos. The and the judiciary must therefore be fully alert and prepared to act professionally and decisively. Any signs of incitement, coordinated disorder, or attempts to undermine public peace before the elections must be treated seriously and within the full confines of the law. The country cannot afford reckless political extremism disguised as activism.Gambians remember too well the painful consequences of political intimidation, instability, and fear. That dark chapter must never return. No organization, movement, or activist group should attempt to exploit public emotions to create tension or provoke confrontation for political relevance. The upcoming elections must be conducted in peace, transparency, and mutual respect. Citizens must reject every call that promotes division, civil disorder, violence, or insurrectionary behaviour. Democracy is strengthened through institutions, not threats against them. The Government must therefore send a clear and unequivocal message: The Gambia belongs to all Gambians, and no group will be allowed to destabilize the country, intimidate State institutions, or derail the democratic process through fear and provocation. Peace, law, and constitutional order must always prevail.
