Police Chief, Special Prosecutor Discuss Accountability Mechanism

The Inspector General of Police, , on Wednesday, welcomed Special Prosecutor and Senior State Counsel to the Police Headquarters in Banjul for a courtesy engagement focused on strengthening cooperation in the pursuit of justice and accountability.

The discussions highlighted the mandate of the Office of the Special Prosecutor and ongoing efforts to operationalize the Special Accountability Mechanism as part of the Government’s implementation of recommendations made by the .

During the meeting, IGP Touray assured the delegation of the Gambia Police Force’s full support towards the successful implementation of the accountability initiative, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to collaboration in advancing the rule of law.

The engagement also reaffirmed the Government’s broader commitment to promoting justice, accountability, and national reconciliation through the implementation of the TRRC recommendations.
