GRA CHIEF YANKUBA DARBOE LEADS HIGH-LEVEL DELEGATION TO THE GLOBAL CUSTOMS SUMMIT IN BELGIUM

The Commissioner General of the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA), Mr. Yankuba Darboe, has once again demonstrated The Gambia’s growing prominence on the international stage by leading a high-level GRA delegation to the 147th and 148th sessions of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Council held in Brussels, Belgium, from 25 to 27 June 2026.

The prestigious gathering brought together customs commissioners, directors-general, and senior government officials from across the globe to deliberate on critical issues shaping the future of customs administrations. Discussions focused on trade facilitation, revenue mobilisation, border security, customs integrity, digital transformation, enforcement strategies, and the innovative use of technology and data analytics to strengthen customs operations worldwide.

Under the visionary leadership of Commissioner General Yankuba Darboe, the GRA delegation actively engaged with the WCO Secretariat and counterparts from member administrations, exchanging experiences and exploring new opportunities for technical cooperation, capacity building, and institutional partnerships.

The participation of the Gambian delegation underscores the GRA’s unwavering commitment to modernising the country’s customs administration in line with international best practices and WCO standards. The knowledge and partnerships gained during the council sessions are expected to further accelerate the Authority’s ongoing reform agenda, enhance revenue collection, strengthen compliance, improve service delivery, and promote more efficient and secure border management.
