Dangote to Address Africa Caucus 2026 in The Gambia

The Gambia is set to host one of Africa’s most significant economic and financial gatherings as renowned African industrialist and philanthropist, Aliko Dangote, President and Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Industries Limited, is expected to address delegates at the Africa Caucus 2026 on Tuesday, 7 July 2026, at the Gambia International Conference Center.

Mr. Dangote’s participation follows an invitation extended by His Excellency the President of The Gambia, highlighting the growing recognition of the private sector as a key driver of Africa’s economic transformation, industrialisation, and sustainable development.

Before the opening of the conference, President Barrow will receive Mr. Dangote at the State House in Banjul for a tête-à-tête, followed by a bilateral meeting. The two leaders are expected to discuss investment opportunities in The Gambia, industrial development, regional trade, agriculture, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, and strategies for strengthening public-private partnerships to accelerate economic growth and job creation.

The Africa Caucus is an annual consultative meeting that brings together African Ministers of Finance, Governors of Central Banks, senior government officials, and representatives of major international financial institutions, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. The forum provides African countries with an important platform to coordinate their positions on key economic and financial issues before participating in the Annual Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank.

The primary objective of the Africa Caucus is to promote a unified African voice on matters affecting the continent’s economic development. It enables member countries to advocate for policies that support sustainable economic growth, increased development financing, debt sustainability, poverty reduction, climate resilience, digital transformation, food security, regional integration, and private sector-led development.

The meeting also provides an opportunity for African policymakers to engage directly with the leadership of the IMF and the World Bank on issues of critical importance to the continent, including access to concessional financing, reforms to the global financial architecture, support for infrastructure development, and measures to strengthen Africa’s resilience against global economic shocks.

Hosting the Africa Caucus 2026 is widely regarded as a major diplomatic and economic milestone for The Gambia. The event is expected to attract high-level delegations from across Africa and international development partners, further enhancing the country’s profile as a destination for international conferences, investment, tourism, and regional cooperation.

Mr. Dangote, widely recognised as Africa’s foremost industrialist and founder of one of the continent’s largest business conglomerates, is expected to deliver a keynote address focusing on industrialisation, entrepreneurship, value addition, manufacturing, and the indispensable role of the African private sector in achieving economic self-reliance and long-term prosperity.

His address is anticipated to encourage stronger collaboration between governments, development partners, and the private sector to unlock Africa’s vast economic potential, create sustainable employment opportunities for its rapidly growing youth population, and accelerate the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), thereby fostering greater intra-African trade, regional value chains, and inclusive economic growth across the continent.
